Board of Directors 2025 - 2026

The following board of directors were elected at the AGM on October 16, 2025

Kendra Curtis — President

Kendra Curtis has served on the LBHA as a Director for the past year. She is a retired Professional Engineer and Calgary native. Her career in software development included executive leadership roles at Google and founding a tech company. Kendra returned to Calgary in 2019 and now resides in Lake Bonavista, where she feels privileged to be able to give back to the community that holds fond memories from her childhood.

Colette MacArthur — Secretary

Colette MacArthur has lived in Lake Bonavista since 1987 and has raised four children in the community. Trained in Information Technology, she brings extensive experience in enterprise-wide systems, including Accounts Payable, Receivable, Inventory, and Equipment Maintenance, with over 20 years of involvement on various youth sports boards, including the LBCA. Colette is a dedicated volunteer committed to serving her community. She looks forward to contributing her skills to the LBHA board, focusing on financial and operational oversight, effective governance, transparent communication, and representing the interests and concerns of community members.

Roger Duckworth — Treasurer

Roger Duckworth has been a resident of Lake Bonavista for 34 years. Through his Bachelor of Commerce, Master of Economics and PhD degrees, he has taught marketing, economics, money and banking, and strategy courses. Over the years he has come to appreciate the importance of contributing to the community one lives in. In his retirement, he would like to contribute in a meaningful way to our community.

Edward Ashby — Director

Edward Ashby is a retired Communication Analyst and Writer for local high tech firms. He and his wife raised two children in Bonavista over the past 15 years. As a current Residential Construction Consultant he is well versed in Calgary's single family developments and the strain we feel from Calgary City Hall to comply. Edward brings to the board experience in public presentation, consultation and construction. We need improved communication with regular, direct, in-person meetings with Members throughout the year. He believes decisions about lake memberships and development should reflect the will of the community, not outside interests. His goal is to strengthen communication and to foster meaningful engagement across the Lake Bonavista community.

James Bolen — Director

Semi-retired CEO, Engineer/MBA and 30-year Lake Bonavista homeowner, volunteer and coach. 35 years as a senior executive, business owner, and Board Director. Currently advises boards and CEO’s on technology development, business development, M&A and governance. Strong financial acumen. Focus would be on implementing formal data-gathering and operating procedures for the Board to ensure stronger representation of the majority of LB Homeowners’ wishes as well as transparency in governance.

Christine Deyell — Director

Christine Deyell and her husband have raised their two sons in Lake Bonavista for over 15 years. An educator with nearly two decades of experience, she brings strong skills in organization, communication, collaboration, and conflict resolution. Her volunteer work spans local and international projects focused on education, clean water, and community development, along with many years of parent volunteering at home. Christine is family-oriented and passionate about preserving the quality of life in Lake Bonavista, with priorities that include protecting the community from blanket rezoning, addressing lake water quality, and fostering greater transparency and engagement.

Margaret Fullerton — Director

Margaret is a retired Registered Nurse, with over 40 years of experience in patient and family centered care. She served as Senior Operating Officer for the Alberta Children’s Hospital (2009-2023), developing strong leadership, strategic planning, fiscal management and community engagement skills.  Margaret has served as a Director on local and national Boards, and currently serves on the Board of Directors for Ronald McDonald House, Alberta.  She has lived in Lake Bonavista since 1997 and is pleased to have this opportunity to contribute to the long term quality and sustainability of our wonderful lake and park.

Anna Strasser — Director

Anna Strasser is a Geologist (P.Geo) who leads a team of 40 professionals (experience in budgeting, long-range planning, project and risk management). Her university thesis focused on lake water chemistry, and she has volunteer experience as a soccer and basketball coach, team manager, and parent council chair. She also led a ‘save our school’ effort which successfully prevented the closure of a CBE school. With her daughters now in university, she hopes to direct her volunteer efforts to the community. Anna would like to focus on the sustainability of our lake and community with an emphasis on water quality and infrastructure. She would also like to limit multi-unit development in our community. She values data, open communication, and feedback.

Bev Tonkinson — Director

Bev Tonkinson has been on the board for the past year and would appreciate your support for the up and coming year.  She is a retired realtor after 23 years, representing many clients in Lake Bonavista. Bev is a Past President of one of the local Rotary Clubs. She understands the importance of the lake and the quality which greatly affects the value of our properties. Bev has lived in the community with her family since 1996 and she wants to protect it as is. She has lived in the non estates, lake access, and lakefront. Engagement and communication with the community is of high priority.
