Frequently Asked Questions

Who can be a member of LBHA?

To be a member of LBHA, your residence must be in Lake Bonavista and have our Encumbrance listed on the Land Title. Membership is mandatory for all of these homes.


Members are: 

  • registered homeowner(s)
  • unmarried children living at home 
  • a single parent of the homeowners living at the home


Homeowners may assign their membership to renters of the property, if they so wish. Either homeowners or renters will have the membership.  


Unfortunately, Bonavista Downs residents and Condo residents are not eligible for membership. 


How many guests can I sign into the park?

Guest limits are 10 guests per household per day.  


Senior Members (Homeowners) may sign in up to 10 guests per day. Junior Plus Members (age 21 and over) may sign in up to 5 guests per day.  Junior Members (under 21) may sign in up to 2 guest per day.  The total number of guests per household shall not exceed 10 per day. 


Members are responsible for their guests at all times. 


The signing member must stay in the park with their guests for the duration of their function. Please note: There is no signing guests in ahead of their arrival. The member must be at the gate to sign in their guests.  

Can I enter the Park if I have not paid my fees?

No. All fees must be up to date before you can enter the Park. 

How can I pay my Lake Fees?

You can pay your lake fees by cash, cheque, Debit (in the office only), etransfer or Credit Card (online). Please see the Pay Fees page for more information. 

I am moving. Can I be reimbursed for my Lake Fees?

When you sell your home you can choose to have your lawyer obtain reimbursment from your buyer on a pro-rated basis or pass on the remaining portion of your fees as a goodwill gesture. If you are moving to another home in the community, your fees will again be due as the fee is not transferred from house to house. Please inform us of your move as this will help us keep our records updated. 

I'm new to the neighbourhood. How do I get a lake card?

Once you have taken possession of your new home, you can come to the office (just inside the north gate) and sign up for your lake cards. You will need to bring your land title or lease agreement with you, plus photo ID for the adults.  All outstanding fees must be paid before receiving your lake cards.

I lost my card. Can I get a replacement?

Yes. Please come to the office during office hours and we can replace your card. The cost is $5 for cards under 5 years old. Older cards are free to replace. 

Can I fish at the lake?

Yes, Members can fish in the lake. LBHA holds a commercial fishing license which allows members to fish. Fishing will not be allowed southeast of an imaginary line drawn between the northeast corner of the Inn to the large rock in the water west of the falls, NO FISHING OFF THE BEACHES, WATERFALLS OR DOCKS AT ANY TIME. Households can currently keep up to 2 fish per month.

Can I smoke or vape at the Lake?

There is No Smoking/Vaping permitted within the park and lake area. This includes both entrances to the lake, all buildings and all areas of the park and lake.  

Can I bring alcohol or another intoxicating substance to the Lake?

Any intoxicating liquor, drug or similar substance is strictly prohibited on LBHA property. Immediate one year suspension will be handed out to anyone found breaking this rule. 


Members are responsible for their guests behaviour. 

Can I bring a bike or skateboard/roller blades into the Park?

Bikes are not allowed to be ridden inside the park gates. We do have bike racks just inside each gate, and we ask the you exit your bike and walk it to the bike racks. 


Roller blades and skateboards are permitted to be used on the Pad in front of the main building ONLY. 

Are dogs allowed at the lake?

Pets of any kind are not allowed on LBHA property.  This includes pets of houses backing onto the lake.  Please keep your pet out of the lake water and off the ice.
